"Eat your own dog food" is an expression that describes when you use your own products to show their benefits and promote them. At OpenIO we are strong believers in this practice. This is why we have been filling our labs with the right technology to make sure that what we say is identical to what we do.
Our Partners Are the Key
To make this strategy happen, we have worked hand in hand with our partners, using their products and services - both hardware and software solutions - in conjunction with ours on a daily basis.
For example, we are using OVH SoYouStart servers to build ARM-based clusters for customers who asked to test OpenIO SDS, its features, and its scalability, without having the budget to acquire new HW resources for a PoC.
But we are going even further when it comes to software solutions. We installed Storage Made Easy products, and we use them daily to demonstrate that it is quite easy to save money and be efficient with this type of end-to-end solution.
We know that the work we see in our labs reflects real-world usage. So when we tell our customers how they can save money by implementing OpenIO SDS in their datacenters (or on rented dedicated servers), we know that we can reproduce this same experience and savings, consistently.
Saving Money with Object Storage
We also want to demonstrate that Object Storage is for end users of any size. It only depends on the use case, meaning that you can start very small, and grow as you need to.
This is also why we are promoting ARM-based architectures with small nodes, and Raspberry Pis, for evaluation and testing purposes.
And if it works for a small, agile, distributed organization like ours why shouldn't it work for you?
Our products are built around efficiency and ease of use. They can be adopted by organizations of any size. Large customers see these benefits at scale, while smaller ones can have good ROI and incredibly low TCO, even when it comes to 3-nodes installations with small capacities. And we are proud to be the best example of this.
When we choose a partner, we work hard to ensure that the joint solution has value for everyone and meets the needs of real businesses.
